HIGHLIGHTS AND STATISTICS

  • On 09 July, 5,479 new refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants were counted in Serbia. 94% of them were accommodated in 18 governmental centres (below chart refers).

  • Some centres, especially the Transit Centres (TC) in Adasevci, Principovac and Sombor remained overcrowded, where some 200 refugees and migrants, including families and unaccompanied and separated children (UASC), were accommodated in temporary emergency shelters of rub halls or tents.

  • UNHCR and partners received testimonies of 78 collective expulsions from Croatia, with many alleging to have been denied access to asylum procedures there, while 28 were received from Hungary.

  • In June, 329 individuals registered their intention to seek asylum in Serbia. 52% were made by men, 6% by women and 42% were registered for children. Most applications were made by citizens of Afghanistan (55%), Pakistan (15%), and Iraq (12%). Asylum applications were submitted by 50 individuals. The Asylum office rejected two asylum applications during the month. Since the beginning of the year, the Asylum Office has not yet made any positive decisions on granting refugee status or subsidiary protection.
