Chairman NDMA, Major General Asghar Nawaz has said that support from Private Sector is an important component for entire spectrum of disaster management. He said this while meeting Mr. Kinji Saito, Global Chief Suzuki Motors Company of Japan here in Islamabad today.
Pakistan Suzuki Motors Company as a goodwill gesture and part of its corporate social responsibility donated 20 Ambulances and 300 Tents to Pakistan in the wake of Earthquake of 26th October, 2015.
Chairman NDMA thanked the Suzuki Company for this gesture and its generous contribution for the noble cause which will enhance the response capacity of the rescue and relief organizations. He emphasized the involvement of Private Sector in entire spectrum of Disaster Management especially disaster risk reduction measures.
Mr. Kinji Saito informed that Suzuki Company has been actively participating in the relief efforts during previous disasters in the Country and will continue to offer their assistance in times of need.
Later in a simple handing-over ceremony, Chairman NDMA, Major General Asghar Nawaz on behalf of Government of Pakistan received the Ambulances and Tents. The donated items will be further handed over to the Provincial Governments as per their priority need assessment.
