Pakistan: Pakistan - Earthquake (ECHO) (ECHO Daily Flash of 3 November 2015)

  • According to official estimates, so far the earthquake of 26 October has caused 272 deaths, 2 158 injured and damaged 35 785 houses in Pakistan. The worst affected area is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (KP), where 225 deaths, 1 797 injured and at least 25 636 damaged houses are reported, with heaviest losses in the districts of Shangla, Chitral and Swat. In Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Bajaur Agency has recorded the highest losses including 22 casualties, 159 injured and 9 534 houses damaged. The verification of the earthquake affected areas is still in progress.

  • In total 33 925 individuals have been assisted by international NGOs in earthquake affected areas, including 24 275 for shelter, 2 622 for food, 2 528 health, 2 296 nutrition and 2 204 for emergency WASH. Some 7 international NGOs are assessing the situation in aforesaid districts and reports will be shared with Pakistan Humanitarian Forum (PHF) once completed.
