Wild Fire erupted on Margalla Hills, Islamabad. Emergency Services of CDA have been attempting to extinguish ; however due to limited resources, steep incline, remotness of area and high spred wind , fire could not be extinguished. The increasing intensity/spread of Fire started endangering residential/populated areas around Faisal Mosques and Village Kalinjar .
today (30 March 18), NDMA through Joint Services Headquarters (JS HQ) mobilized ground and Aerial Fire Fighting resources of Pakistan Armed Forces (Army, Navy & Air Force).
Helicopters of Army, PAF and Cabinet Division were extensively employed through out the day to control the wild Fire.
Present Status. As per on site representatives of CDA fire has been almost controlled/ extinguished and populated areas are Safe. However, still 3-4 dispersed places are under mild Fire and dismounted Troops ex Army and Navy are still assisting CDA fire fighting staff. Wind Velocity/ speed is hampering the Fire Fighting. It is assessed that helicopter effort will be required tomorrow as well to completely extinguish the Fire.
