HCT – Strategic Response Plan 2015 Food Security and Livelihoods
The Pakistan Food Security Cluster has been striving to advocate and address the most urgent and unmet needs of Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of KP/ FATA including returnees which were identified in HCT Strategic Response Plan 2015.
However, in the mid of the year 2015, around 1.5 million including around 15% female households were assisted with live saving nutritious food in and off – camps including the areas of their returns. For revitalizing and restoring very initial livelihood productive assets, the quantum of response is quite slow and low as only 14,000 families were supported with cash based programming, is subsequently providing an opportunity to IDPs/TDPs for improving the depleting purchasing power for daily livelihoods.
On the other hand, livestock emergency support is also being provided to near 220 families in capacity of feed/fodder, vaccination for FMD and livestock skill management training in hosting area of KP. In mid of year 2015, over 38,000 families (registered and non - verified) has been returned which they need most urgent needs of livelihood and agriculture supports for very initial resumption of livelihood activities.
However, the funding situation to livelihood sectors is critically dried as only US$ 2 million has received till the mid of year 2015, contrary to food requirement which is quite satisfactory as US $ 146 million has secured. In the second half of the year 2015, the funding requirement for Food Security Cluster has substantially increased under food sector due to returns caseloads and the revised requirement has reached to near US$ 217 million and nearly US $ 150 million has received.
