Highlights

  • Last week, more than 10,300 people have been displaced across Afghanistan, bringing the total number of displaced people to more than 212,000.

  • More than 20,000 people reportedly have been displaced from Ghormach district to villages within the same district, other districts in Faryab Province and to Maymana City.

  • Some 7,000 people displaced within Hilmand are reportedly living in dire conditions in Greshk, Nahr-e-Saraj. Due to insecurity, humanitarian partners have no access to these families.

  • Some 1,025 spontaneous returnees and 121 deportees arrived in Afghanistan from Pakistan, according to IOM from 20 to 26 August. In the same period, 1,427 registered refugees returned to Afghanistan, 1,299 from Pakistan, 104 from Iran and 24 from other countries, as reported by UNHCR.

  • Flash floods on 24 and 25 August damaged 250 houses in seven districts of Nangarhar affecting dozens of families and left agricultural land flooded, according to initial reports.

  • During the past week, more than 38,000 displaced people and undocumented returnees received some form of humanitarian assistance.
