Highlights

1,885 undocumented Afghans returned from Pakistan

91% of returnees from Pakistan (1,724 individuals) assisted

4% of returnees from Iran (358 individuals) assisted

Return from Pakistan

A total of 1,885 undocumented Afghans spontaneously returned or were deported from Pakistan through the Turkham border (Nangarhar province) and Spin Boldak (Kandahar province) border crossings from July 23-29 according to the Border Monitoring Team of the Directorate of Refugees and Repatriation (DoRR).

Of the total returnees, 1,798 were spontaneous returnees and 87 were deported. This number is a 13% decrease compared to the previous week. The total number of undocumented Afghan returnees from Pakistan since 01 January 2017 is now 77,837.

IOM provided post-arrival assistance to 91% of undocumented Afghan returnees from Pakistan (1,724 individuals), including 1,685 individuals in poor families, 276 single parents and 4 special cases. Additionally, IOM provided assistance to 250 individuals in poor families who were unable to collect their assistance on the day of their return, due to the closure of the Nangarhar Transit Center between June 30 and July 3.
