Highlights and Statistics
- On 23 July, 5,203 new refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants were counted in Serbia.
- 4,899, i.e. 94%, were accommodated in 18 governmental centres, which provide some 6,000 hard-shelter places (below chart refers). Some centres, especially the Transit Centres (TC) of Adasevci and Principovac remained overcrowded, as they still used temporary emergency shelter such as rub halls and tents to accommodate refugees and migrants, including families and unaccompanied and separated children (UASC).
- The end June update of the joint assessment of conditions in all shelter sites in Serbia against applicable UN, EU and national reception standards was posted online.
- UNHCR is grateful to the Government of Sweden for having accepted an unaccompanied and separated refugee child from Afghanistan for resettlement, who departed from Serbia this week. Orderly legal pathways for refugees to access effective protection remain of utmost importance.
- UNHCR and partners collected reports of 157 collective expulsions from Croatia, with many alleging to have been denied access to asylum procedures there, while 59 were recorded regarding Hungary.
- 1-23 July, 206 refugees registered intention to seek asylum in Serbia.
