Return from Pakistan
A total of 2,177 undocumented Afghans spontaneously returned or were deported from Pakistan through the Turkham border (Nangarhar province) and Spin Boldak (Kandahar province) border crossings from July 9-15, according to the Border Monitoring Team of the Directorate of Refugees and Repatriation (DoRR).
Of the total returnees, 2,154 were spontaneous returnees and 23 were deported.
This number is slightly higher (5%) than in the previous week. The total number of undocumented Afghans returnees from Pakistan since 01 January 2017 is now 73,790.
IOM provided post-arrival assistance to 97% of undocumented Afghan returnees from Pakistan (2,122 individuals), including 904 individuals in poor families, 198 single parents and 5 special cases. The assistance provided includes meals, accommodation, basic medical screening, Non-Food Items (NFIs), onward transportation cash grants and referral services, as well as support from partners (see Annex 1).
