HIGHLIGHTS AND STATISTICS .
- By 18 June, the overall number of new refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants counted in Serbia shrunk to 6,324. 92% were accommodated in 18 governmental centres.
- Some centres remained overcrowded, especially the Transit Centres (TC) in Adasevci, Principovac and Sombor, where over 300 refugees and migrants, including UASC, are accommodated in temporary emergency shelters of rub halls or tents (below chart refers). On 17 June, authorities transferred 148 men and boys, most from Pakistan, from Sombor TC to Presevo Reception Centre (RC).
- An update of the assessment of all centres in Serbia against applicable UN, EU and national reception standards, as of end May was posted online the UNHCR website. It received over 27,000 hits so far.
- UNHCR and partners received testimonies of 102 collective expulsions from Croatia, with many alleging to have been denied access to asylum procedures there, while 60 were received from Hungary, including allegations of cruel or degrading treatment by Hungarian authorities.
- 01-18 June, 213 refugees/migrants registered an intention to seek asylum in Serbia.
- The Europe Bureau of the UN Refugee Agency released Desperate Journeys, an interesting report on the risks refugees and migrants faced at Europe's land and sea borders Jan-Apr 2017.
