Chinese Embassy to Pakistan Charged’ Affairs Mr Zhao Lijian on Monday donated US $ 50000 to Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) for flood victims.
Mr Zhao Lijian handed over the donation cheque to PRCS Secretary General Dr Rizwan Naseer at the PRCS National Headquarters.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Zhao Lijian said that the Chinese Government and people stand with their Pakistani brethrens in this hour of need.
He said Chinese Government & People share the pain and grief of the people affected by the current floods in Pakistan and assured full support in provision of relief to the flood affectees. Speaking on the occasion PRCS Secretary General Dr Rizwan Naseer thanked Mr Zhao Lijian on behalf of Chairman PRCS Dr Saeed Elahi and Pakistan Red Crescent for their generous support and hoped that the donation would help in alleviating the sufferings of the victims. “The help reflects that the whole Chinese nation stands with the Pakistani brethrens in this hour of need and this would further strengthen people-to-people relations,” he added.
Dr Rizwan Naseer said that the PRCS is fully alive to the needs of the flood victims and is supporting thousands of affected families with food, non-food items and medical care. He said that PRCS was providing relief as per international standards in collaboration with International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and other national sister societies.
He said the PRCS rescue and relief teams were the first to response to the disaster as the PRCS has a district branch in Chitral that contains a relief stock for 500 families. The PRCS health units comprising doctors, paramedics and ambulances have reached the affected areas on foot especially in Chitral & GB to provide relief to the victims.
PRCS Punjab Branch with the support of National Headquarters is active in the affected areas of District Laya and Rajan Pur.
Sindh Provincial branch has deployed its team in the areas Karai, Khuaro, Khairpur and Jamshoro affected by the flood threats to provide in relief to the affectees.
Dr Rizwan said, on the special directions of PRCS Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi the PRCS Director Operations Ghulam Muhammad Awan in Chitral to get first hand information and provide relief to the victims as per their actual needs.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Red Cross Society of China always remained in the fore front to support the PRCS in provision of relief items and health care during the major disasters be it the Earthquake 2005, Floods 2010-2011, 2013 and 2014.
