QUETTA: The Coordinator of the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), Balochistan, Dr Saifur Rehman, has said a taskforce constituted last month will ensure that every child living in Afghan refugee camps is vaccinated against polio.
A meeting held here on Monday to review the taskforce’s preparation was attended by representatives of the United Nations refugee agency, the Afghan Refugee Commissioner’s Office, Taraqee Foundation, World Health Organisation and the UN children’s fund.
The participants decided to hold meetings on a monthly basis and share information.
“There are 12 Afghan refugees camps in six districts of Balochistan where 57,808 children are living,” Dr Rehman said.
“We are specially focusing on the camps for eradication of polio from Balochistan.”
