Pakistan: PRC starts training of District Officers to launch National Health and Safety Movement across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Red Crescent starts training of its newly recruited District Officers to launch National Health and Safety Movement in all districts of Pakistan.

PRC Secretary General Dr Rizwan Naseer welcomed the newly recruited district officers at the opening session of the training being conducted in collaboration with Pakistan Boy Scouts Association.

Dr Rizwan Naseer welcoming the newly recruited officers to the Red Crescent Family said that you all are ourbackbone for launching the National Health and Safety Movement on behalf of PRC Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi said that we believe that you people, wearing the red jackets, equipped with thorough and well designed trainings and filled with the fervor and spirit of humanity shall be our means to a safer, healthier and resilient Pakistan.

Your presence in entire length and breadth of Pakistan, engaging youth from schools, colleges, universities and other community organizations to bring positive contribution towards their community and Red Crescent Scouts will be the first responders in case of any disasters at local level in their communities.

Under the Health and Safety Movement, PRC will enroll Red Crescent Scouts/ Volunteers to be trained as master trainers to establish community emergency response teams in their respective communities.

Under this initiative, PRC will train first aiders to achieve the goal of First Aider in every Home, to strengthen disaster response capacity in Pakistan. The DORCs will create awareness regarding school safety, establishing environmental friendly cleaner communities and health related awareness campaigns related to water borne diseases and rapidly spreading Hepatitis B&C in Pakistan. The primary focus shall be to involve local communities and recommend local indigenous economical solutions for establishing healthy, safe and resilient communities.

PRC shall also be establishing lost help line to reunite unidentified victims reporting to emergency departments of major hospitals of Pakistan. Furthermore, PRC shall also try to reunite family members who went abroad and are not in contact with their families in collaboration with International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).
