During the last days, new displacement is ongoing from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) as a result of renewed military operations. So far, 213 families (2 200 individuals) have been recently displaced. A stay point (camp) with 700 tents has been established by the district government.
Estimated 1 119 426 people (186 571 families) have been displaced due to military operations against -non-state armed groups in tribal areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Insecurity and attacks are frequent. This morning, an attack took place on the Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 31 casualties confirmed so far.
ECHO is working with UN agencies and INGOs on Protection, Health, Food, Nutrition and WASH for the displaced population and Afghan refugees. Under the Humanitarian Implementation Plan for Pakistan in 2015, 29% of funds have been allocated to the complex emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
